Prayers for This Year
OUR COMMISSION
Our Lord's great commission was to send us out into the world to make disciples of all peoples, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
This we seek to do with love and care.
Worship Together
There is the danger that we would favour one minister against another, and so stay away.
Paul strongly condemns this. Remember that we are here to worship God not man.
Throughout the year we shall have many different speakers and leaders of worship: Pray for them all. Invite friends and neighbours to share Sunday afternoons with you, at church.
Fellowship Together
Come to events and services whether here or at other Churches. Whilst we may have strongly held beliefs as Baptists, We have much in common with other Christian faiths and need to share our love of Jesus with them.
Mission Together
Part of our mission to the village is telling others about Jesus: Do this by inviting others to come with you to church or other events: Making the love of God known by what you do and say.
Above all remember your commitment to God.
When you became a member of this part of His Church in Hockley Heath you made promises and gave commitments both to Him and to fellow Christians.
We pray in confidence to the God of all kindness and mercy for the needs of the Church and the needs of the world.
Recently the National Secular Society won a court victory when the judge ruled that
prayers could not be a formal part of council meetings.
We pray for all Christians
in our land, that their identity as Christians may be honoured not only privately
but publicly: that they might be free to express their beliefs in freedom.
Lord, in
your mercy.
Last Wednesday Her Majesty the Queen asserted that the Church of England “has a duty
to protect the free practice of all faiths in this country.”
We pray for the freedom
of all religions in our lands: that they might be free to honour their beliefs and
practices in peace and without protest.
Lord, in your mercy.
We continue to pray for countries where the people are being oppressed and violated
because of their hunger for freedom. We pray that all governments might truly honour
the genuine aspirations of their own people.
Lord, in your mercy.
With unemployment rising especially among young people: we pray for all who are yearning
to make their mark in society, for all who hope to live a decent life and work with
dignity: that people’s basic aspirations and needs may be honoured in our country.
Lord,
in your mercy.
Hear us, Lord, as we present our current needs before the throne of your grace. Help us not only to plead before you, but to make what difference we can in the world we live in. Through Christ our Lord.
